The Wave!

I know it was only the first few chapters but I am already hooked!

1.
a.) This book took place in Palo Alto California at Gordon High School in 1969. (read the back)

b.)The reason I knew the book was not occurring in modern times is because in the very beginning the author mentions typewriters. There was also use of a film projector and old school film. Not too many people own film projectors anymore, not to mention use them! The last thing that I noticed is the way Mr. Ross dressed. Nobody wears a suit and tie anymore, they just wear casual stuff

2.) The quote that stood out for me is when Amy said, " I can understand how you feel, I thought it was just awful." (page 21) The reason I chose that quote is because my family was in Austria at the time of the Nazis and they experienced their cruelty firsthand.

3.) How do you think Mr. Ross's plan and the video they watched in class are related? How do you think the plan will turn out?

Thank goodness your wave response was the first one that I actually saw complete. I think that Mr. Ross' plan is related to the Nazi's because I think the Nazi's got so caught up in what they were doing just like the students did and they didn't want to stop. Also the wave the students had to follow specific orders just like the Nazi's did. I feel that Mr. Ross was like the Hittler of the group he got so into giving orders and showing the class discipline. I think like the book says the whole school will turn into the wave and it will become super serious.

Hi Wade! I like your explanations. they were very clear and well though up. I think The class is going to make up a group similar to the Nazi's and sort of act like them (except not as harsh). and they will be kind of playing around and expirementing with the project, but they will get more serious and harsh.(but not harsh enough to kill an innocent person!)
