1: Hideyo thinks of himself as a man old enough to make his own way in life. At times he can be stubborn, and say things he might not mean. Like when he oes to join the army, he doesnt realize that this may lead to his death. With all the pleading and arguing that he does with his family members, he realizes that going to the battlefront may not be the best idea. Hideyo can keep his cool under pressure, and i can relate to that because I get calm under stress.
2: If i had to leave my house in ten minutes, I would bring as much as I could carry! I would bring food, lots of water, some spare cothes, and pictures of my family. Its better than having nothing to remember them by. i would avoid taking anything that might weigh me down or things that are unnecesary.
3: I think that the moment I would have found most upsetting would be either when Hideyo saw his freind get shot right in front of him or stepping out of that tunnel and realizing you were covered in blood. I think Hideyo has seen the most bloody part of the war and understands what is really going on in korea. Hideyo has seen his freinds shot and been covered in blood. That to me is the most disturbing part because you would realize what had happened and realize how far this is going to go. People are being killed out of hate, and the communists will stop at nothing to see the ones they hate dead.

1.) I agree with you Hideyo thinks of himself as a man old enough to make his own way in life. Your right he really doesn't know what he's getting into.
2.)I didn't think about bringing a picture of my family, but now that you mention it I would of to because it is a good idea to have something to remember them by.
3.) I didn't really write about that exact moment but know that I think about it I think that yeh! it is pretty sad seeing your friend get shot right in front of him. And also knowing that you've been walking on blood.
1) i like how you explaned that hideyo is a man who can take care of himself. I think sometimes he can be stubbern but sometimes he can be a carring person.
2)thats exactly what i would bring, especially the water cause it gonna be a long walk.
3)i like the first one because i felt bad for him too and i problebly would be sad too. i like how you said people are getting killed out of hate.
1. I really agree about Hideyo thinking he's really tough and can get through anything. I think he's really scared inside but doesn't express it.
2. I would bring all of the stuff you mentioned as well. I would definatley need a picture of my family in case something happened.
3. I felt the horrified emotion that Hideyo must've felt seeing his friend shot and being so close to the scene of the crime.
1. I agree with you that Hideyo is very courageous and really stands up for his family and counrty. But, I think that he does know that he could get killed in the wart, especially after seeing all of those dead people lying on the ground.
2. That's pretty much what I would bring too haha.
3. I think that this was a very sad part in the book because you see a friend die right in front of your face. That must have been horrible to see blood all over you when you get out of a tunnel too, I can't even imagine if that happened to me!
