Things still arent looking bright for Phillip. His teacher keeps getting him in trouble for singing the star spangled banner, and he found out he cant try out for track. If i were him id be pretty upset. one thing that i would have serious problems with is that Philip was suspended for singing the "Star Spangled Banner" in class. First of all, free country. second, freedom of speech. Philip has the legal right to be partiotic any hour of the day and its really shocking to find out he cant because the teacher will get mad.

Im glad the newspaper reporter got a hold of this story. Because of her, the assistant principal is in some serious trouble and he deserves to be. The Malloys are lucky to have Ted Griffin for a neighbor, because of him this story was put out there in the first place. The supereintedant seemed really mad about it too. people should have rights and Phillip was being denied his.

Do you think that Philip was being denied his rights as an American citizen? Do you think he will get out of the trouble he's in?

1. Yeah, he does have freedom of speech but it's pretty obvious that he's just trying to annoy the teacher. Suspension is out of line, but he probably should get a lesser punishment. Maybe a time-out.

2. It was lucky for Phillip that they had Ted Griffen for a neighbor, even though the newspaper story had a lot of flaws. And I do think it's strange that the superintendent got really uptight about the whole thing too, although I don't think Phillip even cares about being able to sing the 'Star-Spangled Banner' anyway. I think he just wants the teacher to look bad so he can get her fired.

3. I honestly think that Phillip isn't being denied his rights as an American, and the way things are going, it looks like the whole situation will snowball, so I don't think he'll get out of the trouble he's in.

1. I Agree that if i was him, i would be pretty upset. I agree with you about the "Star Spangled Banner". I still thing that your going too far on the freedom of speech, because it is the teachers class room and if the teacher wants him to be quite, he should obey.

2. I totally agree with you about the Malloys lucky to have Ted Griffin for a neighbor. I'm glad that the assistant principal is in serious trouble because he deserves it.

3. I don't think Phillip is being denied his rights as an American citizen. I do think that he is going to get out of the trouble he is in because he is a pretty clever kid who should be able to get himself out of any situation.
